Chip Off the Old Block

Last Thursday, Spitfire performed in her school play, "The Masterpiece." It was written by Gary Stoddard, their director. This is her first year at this new school, and Spitfire had the lead role!

The play started and ended with only HER on stage. The first song of the play was even one of her solos! When she started singing in a clear, strong, voice, I nearly bust my buttons with pride. I almost got teary-eyed.

In the play, Spitfire played a struggling artist. The message of the play was SO positive. It included messages about not letting your fears keep you from creating your masterpiece and not listening to your own negative self-talk. It also talked about being willing to laugh at yourself, and feeling good in your own skin.

Raef, (FEAR backwards) tried to thwart Spitfire off her course

Me, Myself, and I were not supportive at first

The musical numbers were fun and very diverse. There was a "Rap" number,

a Conga number,

and even a Country-Western number.

The director was really good at utilizing the talent that he had in the cast. Though Spitfire was the lead, there were several fun supporting characters, and several little girls had solos.

Everyone is a masterpiece, the masterpiece is YOU

Spitfire had fun taking her bows,

and signing autographs.

I was SO proud of her. She did an amazing job! Her director told me that she was an "absolute pleasure to work with, and a real asset." I already know I have a fantastic daughter, but sometimes after a long day of arguing with her to do her homework, or clean her room, or feed her dog, it's nice to hear something positive from someone else.
