Katy Perry Concert

Just two weeks after giving birth to Sunshine, I took Spitfire to her first concert......KATY PERRY!

We left Sunshine home with Mr. Wright and had a little mother-daughter bonding time.  Our first stop was to buy Spitfire her first concert t-shirt.

The back says, "So hot I'll melt your Popsicle."

Everything about this show was FANTASTIC!!! The stage was designed to look like a Candyland game board.

Katy's costumes were amazing, and SO creative! At one point she wore a dress with Hershey Kisses over the breasts, and the tags were like tassels. Another dress had peppermints on it, and the ones over the breasts twirled.

During costume changes, she had a movie playing on a projector, that moved the story-line of her Candy Adventure along, . She also had some of her back-up singers sing. For the song, "Peacock", Katy and her back-up dancers' costumes combined to look like a giant peacock, Vegas style.

The most amazing costume changes were done during "Hot N Cold". During this number, Katy used a magic trick to change costumes 8 times, and to see it was truly amazing! She literally stepped into a cylinder, they would shake it a couple of times, and then she would appear in something else. Next she would walk into a rectangle box for one second, and walk out in a completely different dress.

It would be easy to think that she was simply wearing 8 different dresses at the same time, however, they each had different necklines. At the end, she stood at the top of the staircase, raised her arms, glitter rained down on her, and she was in a different dress. You can see it for yourself here:

At one point during the show, Katy climbed aboard a suspended stage, that swung out over the audience. It enabled us to get a really good look at her, and felt as if she was singing right to us.

A fun part of the show was when Katy did 'Katy Karaoke'. She performed songs such as "The Friday Song", done originally by Rebecca Black, and "Whip My Hair" by Willow Smith. She also did a Rihanna song, "Only Girl in the World," and "Big Pimpin" by Jay-Z. I liked hearing her sing Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance With Somebody." It was fun to hear her renditions of these songs, and showed off her range. It did strike me as a little odd, as if perhaps she didn't have enough of her own material to fill a two hour slot.

The best part of the night was seeing my little Spitfire singing "Firework" at the top of her lungs.
